Green with Envy? – Simple Modern Vacuum Insulated 20oz Cruiser Tumbler with Lid.

We have entered the age of the stainless steel tumbler, lol. They are popping up everywhere and from anyone, it seems. I love that too! These cups are amazing, amazing, amazing. We all use them daily in my household. They truly keep the cold drinks colder, longer, and the hot drinks, hotter, longer. I only have boring silver in my home though. So, I was beyond excited to be able to review this awesome bright green 20oz tumbler from Simply Modern on Amazon. I ordered the Candy Apple Green, but they do have it available in plain stainless steel, and 7 other powder coated colors. The finish of my green color is vivid, and smooth to the touch. So far so good with durability. The tumbler is constructed out of the 18/8 Stainless Steel I am used to seeing with these type of tumblers. The top does create a very tight seal, which is important for the insulation factor. It has the small mouth opening that I am also accustomed to. My thin stainless steel straws fit into it perfectly. My guys use this size all the time. They work on the road as commercial electricians, and depend on quality cups to carry their drinks. This size is great for cars. It fits into our cup holders without issue. The construction of this cup is the double walled construction, with a vacuum seal in between. That is what makes for the great insulation effects. I love that no matter what the temperature of the drink inside of the cup, the outside of the cup is never uncomfortable to touch and hold. Steamy hot drinks, no problem. Icy cold drinks, you can’t even tell. We do have the 20oz Yeti cup to compare this cup to, and it performs just as well! This cup is dishwasher safe, but I always hand wash everything, anyhow. Everyone always says, is the cup leakproof. Well, no, duh, lol. There is a whole in the lid. That always cracks me up. The seal itself is fantastic, and we have no leaing from around the seal. Fortunately, the drinking hole is small, and down from the edge. With regular walking, your fine and dandy. If you bend over to pick something up, and your cup is in your hand, it will leak out, lol. Yes, I have done that, and more than once too. We really love the bright green color. We call it Zombie Green, haha. It’s easy to spot, so hopefully, you won’t leave it on top of your car, or behind on your outing. You’ll be able to tell if a family member or coworker tries to claim it as theirs. We absolutely love it, and have no complaints. It’s a formidable challenger on the Stainless Steel Tumbler market.

The chemical free way to rid your home from pests. – Bestrix’s Makony Ultrasonic Pest Repellers.

I am a big supporter of the electronic insect repellers. We have noticed a difference since we have started using them. There are many different kinds, and some are variable and some just put off one type of signal. If you use a mixture throughout your home, it’s best to move them around now and then. I guess bugs can get used to one signal, from what I’ve read. I have a mixture throughout my home. This particular set from Bestrix is a pack of 3. I do always use more than suggested. I hate bugs! They say that these 3 will cover up to 4000 sq, feet. I do not have a home that big, so I cannot test that out. Now, each unit itself will cover a sq, foot area of 1,350. If you have a bunch of small rooms, though, put one in every room, and try to put them on an outside wall. The vibrations from the signal travel on the wires and pipes in the wall, created that barrier from the outside where bugs will travel in from. Really large rooms may require 2, especially if there already is an existing pest problem. These are silent to the human ear, and will not pester house pets, unless you collect insects and rodents. Then, that might be a problem. The great thing about these for me, is that with these there is rarely a need to spray bug spray in the home. With my allergies, the less chemicals in the home, the better. That is true for everyone. The three in this set are identical. They have a regular 2 prong plug, and use conventional 110V. These aren’t too large, too, so if you plug it into the bottom plug of your outlet, the top plug is still quite usable. You do not want to hang them too close to the floor. You want to make sure there is enough clearance for the item, and the vibrations to be able to travel through the wall. I have purchased electronic pest repellers that blocked the top plug, and that was so annoying. I need all my outlets, thank you very much. The only downside to these is that it doesn’t happen overnight Give it 2-3 weeks when you first try using them to see real results. Will you still get some bugs, especially on stormy days, yes. They are going to come in. Will you get way less, we did. I like the blue light on this. Most of my other ones have a red LED light. The blue is more soothing, and it’s easy to see, and let you know it’s still working. If the light is off, check it. More than likely someone bumped it, and it actually pulled out of the outlet a little bit. These are a great eco-friendly alternative to using chemicals in the home, especially if you have little kids and pets. I am definitely using these in my home.

Wine anyone? I wish, right. We do drink wine on occasion in our household. I normally just use my “everyday” corkscrew bottle opener too. This wine bottle opener from Ozeri, takes it to the next level; the fancy level. This is a fun item to pull out with company. In your package you will get 1 electric wine bottle opener, 1 AC power cord, 1 charging base/stand, 1 foil cutter, 1 pourer/aerator, and 1 instruction booklet. Yes, a charging base. No batteries required. This is a rechargeable unit, and the plug that attaches to the base/stand is a US 2 prong plug. Even though the wine opener looks really large, it is actually pretty lightweight and easy to hold. It is made out of a mixture of materials, and the main body is coated in a rubber like material, like some phone cases are. It really helps for a sturdy grip. To operate it, there is only one long button. It has both up and down directional abilities. Press the top of the button to remove the cork from the wine bottle, and press the down button, to remove the cork from the opener. It’s really easy to operate with your thumb too. This is their 2^nd generation addition. The state they improved the battery size on this unit, and it can open 80 bottles on one charge. I am not buying 80 bottles, lol, so that will not be tested. I however, keep pressing the button to make it go, and it does last a long while. The base it sits on is pretty neat. It is coated in the same material, and has a cut out on the back of it. The foil cutter, slips into, and fits into this slot perfectly. It really makes for great and convenient storage. The base is very stable, and actually looks very nice as well. Having a foil cutter can really come in handy. We just opened a bottle of wine that had the toughest foil I’ve had to deal with in a long time. I had to use a knife, to make a break into it. I am so happy I have the foil cutter now. There is no slipping and cutting yourself with this one. Just wrap it around the top of the bottle, squeeze it, and turn it around the bottle. It will cut right through the foil, and let you remove the foil blocking you from the yummy goodness that’s inside. It is not super quiet. It sounds like an electric can opener. I feel that is a good comparison to the noise level. That is not an issue for me at all. The wine pourer/aerator will fit into most bottles. Just pour through it and it mildly aerates, as it pours. I do fully find that aerating your wines increases and brings out the favors in it. This is mild aeration, but it’s better than none. Especially when you buy cheaper wines, like we do, lol. The battery in it is not replaceable, like with a lot of electronics, so when it goes, it goes. The key is to not overcharge it. This will prolong the battery life. Since the power cord is separate from the base, just remove the plug with using it just as a stand. Just wait for the battery to drain down before recharging. Overall, this is a great working unit. It removes the cork within seconds, and with ease. It’s definitely a show piece for company too.

I have used dehumidifiers on and off, but rarely do a use a plain humidifier. They are good to have though when the air gets too dry. Though, when I thought about it, I actually use a humidifier all of the time, lol. I use essential oil diffusers, and they place humidity (water) into the air along with essential oils. This humidifier from Ivation is an electronic humidifier, and you can actually choose between heated and non-heated. I used essential oils in this unit when on the non-heated setting. I really enjoy using my essential oil diffusers too. I think it’s so funny that I never tied the two things together. This one unit is working flawlessly. It is so quiet on; you may forget that it is even on. If it wasn’t for the viewable mist and digital screen that is. The screen is very clear, and easy to spot and read. If not using this tabletop, you do have to either lift it up to set it up, or get down on the floor with the it. The screen is on the bottom of the unit. A remote would have been the perfect touch for people who are physically challenged. If you cycle through the settings, you can choose sleep, turbo, Auto, and the Normal. It automatically turns on the heat in each mode, so wait a sec and then hit the heat symbol, and that will turn off the heat. It’s so easy to fill. The top lifts right off, nothing to undo. Then yhe water tank has a large handle. Just lift it up and bring it over to the sink. The cap is large, and easy to grasp, to open it. The sleep mode sets for 8 hours, then shuts off. This unit has auto shut off too, when the water runs out. Turbo and Auto Modes have no timer built into them. Normal does not either, but you can set your own humidity level and timer. I prefer to and pretty much only use the normal mode. The instruction booklet is really clear to read and understand. I wish the ink had been printed darker though. It was done in a really light ink color. You can set the timer from anywhere from 1 – 8 hours. Press the settings button twice, and then use the +/- signs to set your time. On the bottom back of the unit is an aroma compartment. It’s a teeny tray that pulls out and has a thick felt pad in it. You can place essential oils on this pad as you wish. I didn’t get that much from that compartment, and snuck my oils into the water, lol, on the cool mist only. You need to remember to dump out all of the water daily, so no mold or mildew builds. If you aren’t refilling it, dump it out, and let the container air dry before closing it up. The booklet tells you how to clean It thoroughly too. It’s a very stable unit and don’t have to worry about it being easily tipped over. Overall, I am very happy with how it functions. I like the large tank, for all day use. You can direct the stream of humidity since the nozzle can easily be positioned. I am really happy with this unit.

Time to up my game with Royal Classique’s 15 Piece Professional Grade Stainless Steel Russian Piping Tips (Large).

We love to bake in our home. I make everything from scratch, including my icing. I, however, have never really done any piping, or cake decorating. I really didn’t even know there were different sizes of tips available. Low, and behold, there are, lol. This set of stainless steel icing decorating tips comes in the Large size. Let me tell you this, they are large; very substantial, I must say. You get 15 tips in this set. They do require a Large Coupler to be used. It is not included in the set, but I was able to find one easily. Unfortunately, the named brand coupler I ordered in size Large did not come close to fitting these. It turns out you need to buy one specifically in size Large for Russian tips. The shape is different. I found this website where you can order one. They arrived stacked in one box, but individually wrapped inside the box. They are really easy to store since they stack together. I’m sure the box won’t last long, and then I’ll probably use a sandwich bag, or small container to store them with the bags I bought. They are made well. The metal is pretty thick. They are not bendy at all. These are called Russian tips. They are FDA food safe certified. Here are the dimensions: “Upper Diameter: 0.9 inch, Lower Diameter: 1.4 inch, Height: 1.5 inch”. My husband saw these and said they look like something professionals would use. His mom used to make wedding cakes years ago. Lol, I’m still trying to figure out how to attach the disposable bags, and not get icing all over myself. I’m loving and highly appreciate the quality. They should last a long, long time, if not a lifetime. Since I make everything from scratch, I’m looking toward to learning how to decorate my desserts at a fancier level. Due to insane food allergies, I can never, ever, purchase store bought, so this may make my family members desserts more special for them on special occasions. Clean up is easy with these tips too. Not only are they dishwasher safe, since they are so large, they are really, really easy to clean out. You don’t have to worry about cleaning up narrow, hard to reach crevices with these. I really have nothing negative to say about this set. They are well made, and a great variety of patterns. I can’t wait to learn and grow my decorating skills. I never use low quality cooking tools since I have to do everything from scratch, and these are definitely professional quality decorating tips.

Security time. – Tsing Sricam SP009 P2P Wireless Wifi IP Camera Monitor with HD 720P.

I love security cameras. After getting my first one, I was hooked. It is such a simple way to stay connected while you are away, as well as to ensure the safety of your family and home. This is a quick set up styled camera. I was plugged in and synced up within my phone in under 5 minutes. I mean, wow, that is always awesome. I already have a QR scanner app in my phone, so I was able to scan the barcode for the Android immediately, and then downloaded the Sricam App for free. The instruction pamphlet is actually very easy to follow. Then plug the camera in, and follow the instructions in the book. You’ll register yourself, and the camera through the app, and get to modify your password after hooked up. Once connected, you can play with the settings. Click the settings icon, and then turn on the motion detector. If you turn on the buzzer alarm, and enforce alarm, when there is movement where the camera is positioned, the alarm rings through that room, lol. I scared my son to death. Poor thing was screaming, “TURN IT OFF”. You can capture pictures through your camera. To capture video, you need to make sure you have your own micro SD card. It slips into the slot on the side of the camera. The buttons are on the view screen of your phone or tablet. There is also a speaker button on the view screen. When you press this you can talk through the security camera. You can always hear through the app what going on, unless you forget to turn the media volume on. I did that, lol. You can actually have conversations with family when out of town that way. The video has an approx. 4-5 second delay, which isn’t too bad. The video is pretty clear. Even in the dark, the video is pretty clear. I am very, very pleased. It’s not grainy at all. I do have Samsung products, and have great resolution too, though. One negative is that even though the camera is positional in the vertical manner, the camera itself doesn’t have a tight fit, and tends to slip downward if not positioned just right. You can easily find your position, and use some hot glue, that could be removed, or tape, to keep it in place. The do include hardware so you can mount it. One feature that I like, is that you can mount it with the camera all the way down, so it looks upside down. On your app, you can change the camera view by pressing the triangle icon on the view screen. They do not go over all the operations in the set up pamphlet, but they do give you a website to check out in the pamphlet, as well as a customer service to call. The operations are so easy to figure out yourself though, and the camera is very forgiving, lol.

We are big fans of solar lights. We use them all of the time. It’s a proven fact that a well-lit home has a lower chance of being robbed that a poorly lit home. And who doesn’t love a lower electricity bill! I know I do. I hate wasting money on an electricity bill. Solar panels, even these little ones, are so much better nowadays too. They really do provide enough power to light these lights. To top it off, these are LED lights. Another thing I love. LEDs are so much more durable and longer lasting, than regular bulbs. Combine these two things together, and really, how can you go wrong. The key to using lights like this, is to make sure you position the panels so they get full sun during the day. They can illuminate the night for up to 8 hours on a full charge on high. Each light has an internal 200mAh battery. They have a high and a low mode. High is 200 lumens, and low is 100 lumens. Both settings are pretty bright. Both the light and the solar panel are adjustable. You actually have to assemble the lights upon arrival. They did it that way to make the box smaller. Normally they aren’t too hard to assemble, but these need a little patience, and steady hands. You have to almost press the nut into the opening with a finger, while screwing in the screw cap with the other. It eventual catches enough to tighten up the light. But, once it’s done, it’s done, lol. No worries about inclement weather bothering these lights. They have an IP65 waterproof rating. They can handle anything but being submerged. These lights are great for illuminating the outside of your home, pathways, and landscaping. They are very easy to operate. Each light has an off/on button on the back of the solar panel. Press it once for the low setting, and twice for the high setting. They can either be staked into the ground, or mounted on a wall, fence or tree. They include mounting hardware and the stakes, too. The stakes literally just push in, so they are very easy to do. The lights throw a pretty good beam too. It all depends on the angle you set the light. Each light has 4 LEDs in it. These are actually fully on lights, not motion activated lights. They will come on at dusk, and be off by morning. You can set them on low for a longer lasting light time frame, and then put them on high on nights you know you will be coming in late, or having company over. The lights are steady on and won’t flicker on you. Even on days with no sun, you’ll still get some charge; not enough to light up all night, but enough to come on at dusk. I am really happy with this set. I love being able to buy them as a set. One is never enough, or appear balanced, visually. With the two you can light up both sides of your driveway, pathway, or both back corners of your yard. Solar is really a great way to go for outdoor lighting.

It’s Space time! – Treepenguin’s Space Exploration Wall Decals.

Years ago, when my older kids were younger, and they wanted to personalize their rooms, that involved wallpaper borders and paint, lol. So, with my youngest, I am loving the new wall decals out on the market now. This set from Treepenguin, on Amazon, is a lot of fun. It is their Space exploration set, and it consists of the nine planets, the sun, stars, spaceships, comets, steroids, and a satellite. I love that the planets are labeled, so you can set them up in an educational manner for your kids. All the pieces do not have to be used either. If your kids are a little older, you do not need to put the spaceships up. Since these are easy decals, you can remove the spaceships as they get older to. These are made out of pre-cut vinyl. It is just peel and stick; so easy. They key is to apply these to clean, smooth surface. I do not have bumpy drywall, so I did not test these on that type of surface. I have regular flat drywall, and these work great on that, glass, mirror, and refrigerator surfaces. The key is to wipe clean the area first. Even your walls. You want to make sure there is no fingerprint, grease or dust residue on the surface. Otherwise, these won’t stick well. I placed a few in our bathroom to test how they did with humidity, and they do great. They have not started to peel off at all. The great thing about them is you can change your mind at any time. They do not cost a lot, and they will not mar your surfaces. These are a no brainer to apply as well. You can lift it up over and over until you get it placed where you need to. Included with this set is even a fun fact sheet about the planets, asteroids, comets, and stars. You can actually educate your child without even knowing that’s what you are up to, lol. It’s a parenting win! The planet vinyls range in size from 3” to 13”. Pluto being the smallest, and Saturn being the largest. So, these are not too big or too small. I am very pleased with this set overall, and really have no complaints.

My family and I all use these new double walled stainless steel cups. I would feel bad about not using my Tervis cups, but these cups really help keep my cold drinks cold, longer, and our hot coffee drinks, hotter, longer. You really can’t lose with these. This is another brand (Chief) that has entered the competition among the stainless cup industry, lol. It is a 20oz stainless steel insulated cup, with a lid. The lid is just like the lid on our 20oz Yeti that we have. The seal is nice and tight, and holds very well. There is that usual small opening to drink out of. I like that they included the stainless steel straw that will fit into this cup. They actually include a set of 4 stainless steel straws, and 1 straw cleaning brush. This is definitely the eco-friendlier way to go over disposable straws. I have been using a stainless steel straw and cup for a very long time now, and I do not ever taste a flavor difference with the metal. This tumbler has been able to hold its’ own amongst its competitors that we own. I always have an ice cold drink with me, even bedside, so it’s important that my ice last as long as it can. If you just place ice in here, you will have some ice left in it the next day. My throat is always swollen due to frequent anaphylactic reactions, so this is a must have feature for me. I think that’s pretty wild that ice will last so long in this cup; I love that. This cup will not leach chemicals into your drink either. It is obviously BPA free. It will not shatter or crack on you, if you drop it. Your hands will not get cold or hot when holding this either, due to its’ great insulation. Since stainless steel doesn’t rust, you will not have to worry about your cup not lasting for you. We use a Keurig to make our coffee. This will not fit, but if you brew a large cup of coffee, that will fit in here perfectly, and allow enough room for milk. So, the large cup setting is a perfect match for this cup, if you add milk to your coffee. If you drink it black, it still fits, and there will be some room left over in it. Another great to go benefit, is that it will fit into your car cup holders well. It fits into all of my cup holders. This is another must have feature for us as well. This has held up to our testing, and our must haves. They even have it available in the 30oz size as well. It’s a welcomed addition to the stainless tumbler market.

The healthy way to light your home. – Skullis’ Himalayan Rock Crystal Salt Lamp with Dimmable Switch.

I am a fan of salt rock lamps. My mom has had one for years. It’s something that is not only beautiful to have in home, but is also beneficial for you. The ways that it can be beneficial to you are also personal. Or example, I find the light very soothing and relaxing, where others may not even care about it. Sometimes things that are very beneficial to your wellbeing are more of a personal choice. I received this salt lamp from Skullis in their smaller size. This lamp can range anywhere from 3 – 4.5lbs in size. They do also offer it in a larger size, 6-11lbs. What I really appreciate, is that when my light arrived, they had also included 3 bulbs with it. It only uses 1 bulb, but now I have two for back up. The bulbs are 15 watt bulbs. I want to see if I can find a LED alternative. Since they packed it so well, all three bulbs worked upon arrival as well. In matter of fact, the entire lamp was wrapped really well. I had to use scissors to cut off the saran wrap type wrapping protecting the salt lamp itself. This unit uses a traditional house plug. It is American 2 prong plug as well. The salt lamp is a natural Himalayan salt lamp. The color when the lamp isn’t on is a darker orange/pink. Salmon may be the more correct way to call the color. Since it is a natural product, the color may vary. When the lamp is on, the entire salt lamp glows a brighter hue. It is so gorgeous on. You can determine the brightness level too. There is a dimmer on the cord approx.. ¼ of the way down the cord. Now, the salt rock is separate from the lamp base. Screw on the light bulb, and plug in the base. Then, carefully rest the salt rock on top of the light bulb. There is obviously a hole cut out of the center, bottom of the salt rock to accommodate the bulb. For all of you thinking, what the heck does this lamp do, this is from the ad page directly: “Natural Himalayan salt lamp will absorb moisture from the air, and then evaporated to release negative ions. It can play a role in purifying the air, called natural ionic air purifiers”. I obviously can’t measure what’s going on in the air when I use it, but Even my mom enjoys having one in her home, and she hates using electricity if she doesn’t have to, lol. They make a great accent light/night light as well. They are truly relaxing to have on in the evening. The warm glow is gorgeous, and knowing it helps your air makes it extra soothing, mentally. It does help the ambiance for the room for a romantic evening as well. After being on for hours, the light does not get hot to the touch. You can gran it with your palm fully embracing it, and it is only slightly warm to the touch. That is a great thing when you have pets and children in the home. You can feel safe with this on. Now, from past experience, my mom states that if you open your windows a lot, the humidity can eat at the salt block of the light. So, you might want to place it in a more non humid environment.
