Beep, beep, beep….New Sky Techs’ LCD Digital Kitchen Cooking Timer.

Standard

Timers are an item that all families use, no matter what their economic position. Be it for cooking, working out, timing your progress, homework, time outs for children, and more. I remember the old wind up models, which are still widely used today. They make that incessant ticking sound, lol. I always feel anxious while those are counting down. I love the silent, battery operated models better. You can focus on what you are doing, without feeling overly anxious with the impending countdown. This particular timer is both compact and easy to store and use. It has a large magnetic on the back, as well as a pop out stand. So, when you are not using it, you can just attach it to your fridge. The timer only measures 3 ¼” wide and 3” tall. It is also only 7/8th” deep. These are my personal measurements. The only downside is to remember to have a AAA battery ready when it arrives. It will not operate without it, and it does not come with one, lol. The battery compartment is on the back of the timer, and no screwdriver is needed to access the compartment.

The stand on the back just pulls out to use, or push it back on flat, and use the magnetic base to mount it. This timer is pretty easy to use. There are three buttons on it: M for minutes, S for seconds, and ST/SP for start and pause your timer. Press in your time, for example 5 minutes and 25 seconds, the up press the ST/SP button. To pause it, press downward on the same button. Then to start it again, press upwards on it. Now, to clear it, just press the M and S buttons at the same time; that’s it. It is so easy to use The screen is not illuminated, but the numbers are big and easy to read at a glance. When the timer goes off, it makes the traditional beeping sound we all know and love, lol. Overall, it’s a reliable timer. I love the ease of use. I hate the fancy ones, that come with an actual booklet of directions, lol. I mean, really, it’s a timer, for the love of pearl. The directions for this are as simple as I already spelled out, and they are literally just printed on the packaging. I really like this one, and it’s found its’ home on my fridge.

Whisper quiet. – DBroth’s Ivation Digital Humidifier w/LCD Control Panel.

Ivatio

I have used dehumidifiers on and off, but rarely do a use a plain humidifier. They are good to have though when the air gets too dry. Though, when I thought about it, I actually use a humidifier all of the time, lol. I use essential oil diffusers, and they place humidity (water) into the air along with essential oils. This humidifier from Ivation is an electronic humidifier, and you can actually choose between heated and non-heated. I used essential oils in this unit when on the non-heated setting. I really enjoy using my essential oil diffusers too. I think it’s so funny that I never tied the two things together. This one unit is working flawlessly. It is so quiet on; you may forget that it is even on. If it wasn’t for the viewable mist and digital screen that is. The screen is very clear, and easy to spot and read. If not using this tabletop, you do have to either lift it up to set it up, or get down on the floor with the it. The screen is on the bottom of the unit. A remote would have been the perfect touch for people who are physically challenged. If you cycle through the settings, you can choose sleep, turbo, Auto, and the Normal. It automatically turns on the heat in each mode, so wait a sec and then hit the heat symbol, and that will turn off the heat. It’s so easy to fill. The top lifts right off, nothing to undo. Then yhe water tank has a large handle. Just lift it up and bring it over to the sink. The cap is large, and easy to grasp, to open it. The sleep mode sets for 8 hours, then shuts off. This unit has auto shut off too, when the water runs out. Turbo and Auto Modes have no timer built into them. Normal does not either, but you can set your own humidity level and timer. I prefer to and pretty much only use the normal mode. The instruction booklet is really clear to read and understand. I wish the ink had been printed darker though. It was done in a really light ink color. You can set the timer from anywhere from 1 – 8 hours. Press the settings button twice, and then use the +/- signs to set your time. On the bottom back of the unit is an aroma compartment. It’s a teeny tray that pulls out and has a thick felt pad in it. You can place essential oils on this pad as you wish. I didn’t get that much from that compartment, and snuck my oils into the water, lol, on the cool mist only. You need to remember to dump out all of the water daily, so no mold or mildew builds. If you aren’t refilling it, dump it out, and let the container air dry before closing it up. The booklet tells you how to clean It thoroughly too. It’s a very stable unit and don’t have to worry about it being easily tipped over. Overall, I am very happy with how it functions. I like the large tank, for all day use. You can direct the stream of humidity since the nozzle can easily be positioned. I am really happy with this unit.
