Formaldehyde, silent and dangerous! – TONOR Portable Formaldehyde Detector.

I have insane allergies, to the point that they are life threatening. I have always wondered about how I could detect formaldehyde and other chemicals. I have asthma attacks and anaphylactic reactions to chemicals put in materials, and clothing, etc.. This machine can only detect formaldehyde, but nonetheless, I was very excited to be able to test one out. We, as a family, went out on the town and tested this at mattress stores, furniture stores, and our local Lowes home improvement store. I also tested air outside by busy streets. Before testing out this machine, I did a lot of research, and studied many a government page. There is a lot of information, and not surprising, some contradictory information on these sites. One thing that is known, is that it is a carcinogenic chemical. It’s important to test your air, and know what your body is breathing in, and absorbing. This machine is pretty easy to read. You can choose between mg, and ppm, as your reading. I did parts per million. That’s what the charts on the OSHA and other government sites used. You can find formaldehyde everywhere which is scary. Exhaust from cars will put out formaldehyde. They use it in a lot of building materials, and furniture, especially foam. RVs and mobile homes can also be hotbeds for formaldehyde. FEMA recently was sued for the high formaldehyde counts in their trailers. You can never get rid of the formaldehyde in your home, it’s everywhere, but if you know the count, you can lower it with proper ventilation, and changing items out. Higher counts can cause asthma, sinus infections, eye and ear irritation, cancer, allergic reactions, and more. If you are pregnant, and or, have little ones in the home, they are even more susceptible. This reader is very simple to operate. The instruction pamphlet is just that, a pamphlet. It is pretty easy to follow. I tuned the audible alarm off, and left the vibration on. I didn’t want to freak people out. You can set the high and low alarm parameters as well. They come preset as 0.1 as the low, and 0.3 as the high, and I left them there. I sis read in my research that OSHA will only allow workers to work in an environment with a reading of 0.75, for only 8 hours at a time. One of the furniture stores I went into had very high readings, of up to around 0.936ppm. That is very high. We had been talking to a salesman for a while, when I finally brought it to his attention. He said they recently had construction work done on the building, and one coworker became ill. He was very concerned. I actually emailed him the photo of the reading, and he said he was going to contact OSHA. Only you can protect yourself, so it’s important to know what the environment you are in is really like. Believe it or not, they even “size” material in formaldehyde, and other harmful chemicals. If your clothing, or leather item, you just bought has an odor to it, more than likely it’s the chemicals your clothing was processed with. Some clothing shuts my throat just by being too close it, and especially by touching it.

There are only 5 buttons on the machine, and they are clearly labeled. The main button is the power button, which is the center button. When you press it , hold it for a second, and you wil hear a beep. The screen will pop on, and count down from 10. Then you will notice the reading pop up. At the bottom right, of the reading, you will notice the air temperature reading. It comes on in Celsius, but you can switch it to Fahrenheit by pressing the right arrow button once. You will also see the battery reading. This requires 3 AA batteries to operate. They are not included, and no tool is needed to access the battery compartment, which is located on the back of the unit. If you do quick press of the power button, it will bring you to a menu screen, where you can choose to change the settings for the high and low, or alarm on or off, as well as an auto off. Mine powers off at 30 minutes. You press the up and down arrows to scroll through the list. The first list is only two items. Bring it down to alarm, and then press the right arrow button. That will take you to the list to choose alarm options. To get back to the main screen, just press the button on the left once. The “autooff” section is where you would go to choose your preferred time for the auto off. If you had a small tripod, you could attach it to the back of the unit, to have it freestanding in an area. This is good if you want to walk around the room, and hit items, to create more airflow, and still being able to read the unit. For example, when we hit the mattresses, the formaldehyde reading would go up. You need to create a flow of the item in the air. You will also notice that when the air system comes on in the room, your reading just may go up as well. I find this machine very easy to operate, fascinating, and highly helpful.

Biometric Safe from Ivation. Perfect firearm storage, and more safe.

Every home should have a safe. There are many different reasons to own one, from personal collections, special family mementos, fire arms, important paperwork, and more. I love the added security measure of being fingerprint enabled. That really adds another layer of protection to the safe. My mom immediately stated, that can be picked up and carried out of the home. Yes, it can if the criminal could find it, lol, but you can bolt it to the ground, and wall as well. My husband has installed many a safe into homeowner’s homes. It’s quite doable. In case you plan on storing your firearm in here, just check your state laws regarding fire arm storage laws along with ammunition storage. I like this as my handgun safe. I’ve been wanting one like this for that particular reason. I used to be a pharmaceutical nurse, and we signed in with our fingerprints. The safe runs off of 4 AA batteries. The battery compartment is located on the inside of the safe door. Be proactive on checking the battery power as an added safety measure for yourself. There is an emergency key entrance located on the underside of the front panel. You’ll see the grooves on the panel to open. You can register up to 32 fingerprints. I can see in some cases, more business related, how that many fingerprints can be needed. The small pamphlet of directions is actually very clear to follow. They include the emergency battery pack and the bolts to mount it to the floor and wall. These areas are predrilled for you already. The felt lining on the bottom is loose, so it’s easily removed and replaced as needed. There was no funky odor to the inside of the safe when I first opened it. I was so excited to see how easy it is to set the fingerprint. Press the reset button on the inside of the door, until you hear a beep. The fingerprint scanner will turn red. Press your finger against it until you hear a solid beep. Now it’s set. Just close the door and test it out. When you lock the door, wait a second until you hear the click. It does not lock right away. You need to wait about 3 seconds. If you hear three short beeps while setting it, it means registration failure. Now to set the pin. With the door open press your chosen number, and then press the reset button. After a very quick two beeps, press the number in again, and the reset button again. You should see the light turn green, and you’ll be good to go. Now, when you press the number to open it, press the # sign after pressing your code in. There is a metal shelf inside the safe as well. That also comes out if you do not want it in there. I’m amazed at how roomy this safe is in person. In my head, the measurements given, looked smaller in my head, lol. The measurements on the ad page are: 13.75″ x 10″ x 10″. The inside measured out at 9 ¾” by 13.5” with my ruler. You can fit several handguns in here for sure, or a lot of jewelry, stamps, personal papers, receipts, and more in this safe. I have to say that my least favorite part of the safe, is the access panel on the front. That is where the emergency key entrance is, and backup battery access port it. The cover is hard to get off. That literally is my only issue with the safe. I am really impressed by the usability of the safe, and all the different options to access it. I love the fingerprint access; it’s awesome.

They’ve come a long way! – BLM Products’ Garibaldi Heating 35″ Curved Electric Wall Mounted Fireplace.

When I was young, my Grandmother had an electric fireplace in her living room. She brought it out around the holidays, and we loved it. I am so amazed how far these have come. This fireplace is not only aesthetically pleasing year round, but in the colder months, can actually heat a room up to 300 square ft. in size. This is a Garibaldi heating fireplace from BLM Products’ on Amazon. It is 35” in length, and has a very pretty curved design to it. It has an elegant curve, which I really, really love. The heat comes out of the vents on the top of the unit only, which makes it easy to choose your placement for it. I also love the easy mounting design it has. It comes with a mounting plate which you attach to the wall, and then the fireplace attaches to the plate. They even include all the hardware, including the anchors. This fan is equipped with a regular 3 prong plug too, so you will not need a special outlet to operate it. There is no special set up or programming to do upon arrival. It’s a plug and play type of unit. Yes, it comes with a remote, and as we all know, remotes make everything better. I was, however, surprised at this price point, that they do not include the batteries for the remote. It requires 2 AAA batteries. No tool is needed to access the battery compartment. The fireplace is really responsive to the remote as well. The remote has one feature that I really appreciate. It has a hole on the back of it, so you can hang it near your fireplace. But, just in case you lose it, you can fully operate this fireplace manually as well. If you are facing the front of the fireplace screen, the control panel is on the right side. The buttons are clearly labeled as well. Some of the nice features this fireplace has, are:

1. Heat on demand.

2. Can run the fireplace separately from the heat feature, for year round use.

3. Dimmable flames.

4. Timer settings from ½ an hour to 7 ½ hours.

5. Quick mounting ability.

I can’t wait for the holidays. We do not have a traditional fireplace, and a fireplace really makes the holidays special to us. It doesn’t stick out far from the wall either, so even if you have a smaller room, you can still hang it in there. It only sticks out approx. 5”. It does need 24” of clearance above it, in case want to hang your TV above it. The fireplace alone setting makes no noise at all. When you have the heater on, you can hear the blower, but it is pretty quiet, nd does not affect your TV watching or conversation. I really like that. It also truly doe not get hot to the touch on the front panel, which is great if you have little ones or pets. My fireplace has been functioning flawlessly. I am really happy about that. It was also designed here in the U.S., which is awesome.

Family fun with this toy! – Avalanche Brands’ Miposaur.

I have a just turned 9, year old son. He loves dinosaurs, and interactive electronics. This toy combines the two. In other words, I have a very, very happy son right now. This toy is silly and fun. Does it run flawlessly, and perfectly, like the directions say. Well, no it doesn’t. But, no toy like this ever has for us, lol. It runs well, and really entertains, so it’s a winner in our eyes. My son does have another interactive toy like this; a cat. So, we are used to how they are supposed to operate. We are liking the additions of the trackball and Miposaur app for our Android devices. That adds two different levels of interaction, which is a nice plus. If you get tired, or bored, of one way, you have two other ways to interact with it at that time. The app is free on Android from the Playstore. Just type in Miposaur in the search, and it comes up as Miposaur from Wowwee Group Ltd. I cannot personally vouch for IOS. The app did not take up a lot of room on our devices either.

The Miposaur requires 4 AA batteries, and the trackball requires 4 AAA batteries. They are not included, and you will need a Philips Head screwdriver to access the compartments. Our remote links up right away, and we haven’t had any issues with communication between the two. The trackball is easy to hold and use. Part of it is a dial, that you just turn to the action desired. There are no words to read, just pictures of the actions: Dance, Food, Teddy Bear, Ball, Leash and Beat Box modes. The Beat Box mode is so funny, I love it. You can also interact with hand gestures. Overall, it’s pretty easy to do. Sometimes, it doesn’t pick up on the hand gestures. The IR sensors are in located in the nose area. You need to do the gestures clearly in front of this area , and not to fast, or the Miposaur can’t read them. The same goes with the 2 clapping modes. You need to clap loud and clear, and concisely, and it picks it up well. If you rub the back of it’s neck, it makes the cutest sound. My husband, myself, and my now 9 year old, are having a lot of fun with it. Ours has been working very well. Most often when it doesn’t pick up our movements, it’s because we aren’t doing it right, or in the right place. Leash mode has been our most inconsistent mode. It will work on carpet, but definitely works smoother on hard surface flooring. We have also noticed that when using it outside, the sunlight can effect it, making it harder to read what you want it to do. Overall, it is a lot of fun. It brings out a lot of laughter in us. I love how smoothly the app works with the Miposaur. It’s really a fun toy.

The clearest portable projector! – iProjector’s Syhonic S70GP 1080P Full HD LCD LED Mini Portable Multimedia Home Theater Projector.

Projectors are a lot of fun. My husband is like a kid in a candy store when I mention the word projector. He just loves them. So, I am obviously not new to projectors. They are a fun addition to any family. I was really excited to be able to try this one from Syhonic. It’s a really nice projector, and so easy to operate. Instructions are included with this unit, and it’s only a fold out pamphlet. But, it really isn’t needed. The chart that lets you know what some of the buttons on the remote are for, is pretty handy though. Directions aren’t really needed because the menu screen on the projector is very clear to navigate through. That alone equals love to me, lol. You can be brand new to operating a projector, and be fine using this one.

Syhonic 1

This projector comes with: 1 lens cap, 1 HDMI cord, 1 Power Cable, 1 instruction pamphlet, One 3-in 1 AV Cable, and 1 Remote Control. The controller needs 2 AAA batteries to operate, and they are not included. No worries, you can operate the projector just as easily without the remote. The operational buttons are all located on top of the projector. The headphone port and SD card slot are on the side of the projector. The 2 HDMI ports, 1 USB port, 1 AV port, 1 VGA port, and 1 TV input port (RF connection) are on the back of the projector. The IR for the remote is also located on the left side of the back of the projector. There is a dial to tune in your focus on the top of the projector, as well. Underneath the projector you will find 1 leveling leg. Just unscrew it until you reach the height it needs.

The remote is so easy to use as well. Make sure you are aiming towards the IR on the back of the projector, though. You can turn it on and off, and run through all the functions with the remote. The menu button is actually clearly labeled on the remote as well. Once you turn on your projector, press the menu button. You will see the choices clearly labeled for you. I love this. Once you pick your category, just follow through the menu options. It’s that simple. It amazes me that there is even a TV tuner with this projector. You will need to connect it to a digital antenna though to pick up a channel. This unit can operate in 12 different Country languages. The remote, however, has English printed on some of the buttons. The size of the projector is great. It measured out at 7 ¾” long, 3 ¼” thick, and 6 ¼” deep, for me. We like to play movies through our. That is mostly what we use projectors for, that nd pictures. You can plug right into your computer to play them, use a USB stick, or a micro SD or SD card, to do so. If you use a micro SD card, you need to use a SD card adapter to do so. That is what we have been doing. It did not like one of our generic SD card adapters. It wouldn’t allow the volume to come through. It did however, work perfectly with other adapters of ours. When you use the SD card, you have to slide it in upside. I found that so funny. It won’t even begin to fit in the other way either. The volume isn’t the loudest on this projector. Is it loud enough to hear, yes. It might not be if you are outside, or have noisy children though. No worries, you can hook it up to an external speaker for added listening power, if needed. We did not need to in home. I cannot get over the picture on this thing. It is clear, and it is bright. This projector boasts 1200 lumens and you can tell. We have had projectors that did not have that many lumens, and you couldn’t get a big enough picture with it, for good viewing. This is a 1080P Full HD projector. The picture is large and it is crystal clear. You will absolutely love it, we sure do!

As an example on how easy this projector is to operate, I will write out the steps:

1. Power on, and then press the Menu button.

2. Press the arrow button until the Movie Section is highlighted, then press the OK button.

3. Now you will see a section named C, press the OK button.

4. Now, scroll to your desired movie, and press the OK button.

5. It will then start loading, and will go onto play your movie.

That is how simple it is to do any of the actions. I love how you can attach this to so many devices. You pretty have any venue at your fingertips with this projector. As a media projector, this is wonderful, absolutely wonderful.

My husband recently got back from Kuwait. His activity has completely changed, so I thought he would really appreciate this watch. It’s important to keep on top of your health. Using a smart watch like this one, really helps you to keep on top of it, while you are busy during your work day. It comes with a free app to really help you track yourself: I-GotU Life from the Google Playstore. This watch is compatible with phones that have Android 4.3 or higher and IOS 7.0 or later. We have only used it with Android devices. It connected immediately with my husband’s Galaxy Note 5 phone. This watch has Bluetooth 4.0 technology in it. My husband leaves it on 24/7. It is comfortable to wear. We love the regular round watch face, with the traditional watch strap style. The strap it comes with is a TPU band. It is interchangeable though. So, you could put on any watch band you want. My husband finds it very comfortable and has left it as is so far.

This watch will track you 24/7. The battery life lasts up to 10 days on a full charge as well. On day 2 ½, my husband’s watch still had a full battery. I was not expecting the battery life to really last like they said. I was quite pleased to be proved wrong. The display is an OLED display and is quite clear. It was quick and easy for my husband to set up. It tracks his activities, sleep, calories burned, steps taken, distance traveled, and the goals you had set up for yourself. It synced up with his fitness app he had on his phone already, and carried over the steps he had already taken for the day, the first day he turned it on. It also carried over the amount of steps that he had set up for his daily goal. Now, that’s impressive. It really syncs up to. When I send him a text, it pops on his watch screen. The same goes if he’s getting a call. Now, you have to remember to turn on notifications for your calls, texts, calendar, emails, and social media. It has a solid waterproof rating of IPX7. You can wear it in the shower with you, while washing dishes, and bathing your kids. It can go into the water up to 1M for up to 30 minutes. So everyday water activities are fine. It has more features too. It gives you the current UV warning index so you can further protect your health. It has a timer, and a sports setting. You turn on the sports activity setting when you start out for a run, a game of basketball, etc.., and it will give you the steps, calories burned, for that specific activity. My husband has been loving his watch. He is highly impressed with the long charge life. It really is a 10 day life on a full charge. We have no complaints on this watch. It’s working better for us than most smart watches we have tried. My son even stated that this watch does more than his fitbit does.

If you are looking to take fun photos and videos, then you are going to love this camera. It is a blast. I was so intrigued by it, that I am thrilled I was able to test it out. It is unlike any other camera I have tried. I have the Polaroid cube, and a couple Go Pro copy cats, as well as other cameras. I even recently tested the new Polaroid snap. So, this camera was still like no other. It is a lot of fun. The clarity is fantastic and the audio pick up on it is pretty strong as well. This sphere has its own Wi-Fi and its own app. The best part is, is that it works. It works well too, and with no hitches, lol. Don’t even try to scan the QR scan printed in the direction pamphlet. They did it in a yellow ink, and neither my phone or my husband’s phone, could pick it up. Just go to your Google Playstore and look for DETU Camera. It comes up right away, and it’s free to Download for Android. I do not know about IOS. I only tested this camera out with Android. You can operate the camera without the app, but you are restricted and can’t see what you are taping or taking pictures of, until you check the micro SD card.

In your camera kit you will get: 1 camera, 1 instruction booklet, 1 micro USB charging cord, 1 velvet drawstring storage bag, and 1 16gb micro SD card.

I love how they include the micro SD card. This camera will accept a micro SD card up to 32gb. Only use a micro SD card that is a class 10 or higher. Otherwise the movie quality will not be there. On the underside of the camera you will find the port for the micro SD card and micro USB cord. There is also a port for a small HDMI cord. Also on the back is the port to attach your own tripod; it’s nicely threaded. On the top side of the camera you will find the Power button, Wi-Fi button, Shutter button, and the Mode button. Fun fact, you can play with the camera while it’s plugged in charging. They do highly suggest charging this camera in a 1A port, or use what I did, a Smart Charger. It has an internal 1000mAh battery. The charge lasted for about 30 min. of video recording time before it started to let us know, low battery, on our app. Since it has a Wi-FI button, and you can connect it to your tablet and phone, it’s easy to share your fun memories to social media. To connect to the Wi-Fi, you will need to insert a code the first time out. It is 12345678. This camera has so many wild modes: Fish Eye, Panorama, Planet, Hemisphere, or VR mode. Yes, it even has VR mode. How wild is that!!!!! I am so glad I have a pair of VR glasses too. I was like a little kid in a candy store when I saw that. You can take photos in all these modes as well. It doesn’t have to just be videos. You can do all of this from the app. It’s so easy to do. You can even play with your screen on your phone. It doesn’t get incorporated into what you are filming though. You can twist and turn it, and make it spin. It’s fun to do. My youngest son was having a lot of fun with that. This camera is 1.69” wide x 1.97” tall x 1.97” long. It’s a very user friendly size. It only weighs 2.7oz as well. This would be a fun camera to go hiking with. We love everything about this camera. The modes are fun to use, and the clarity is great. The app actually works very well, and it is so responsive and easy to use at any skill level.

Crisp clear sound with SoundPEATs New Arrival Q11 Bluetooth 4.1 Wireless Sport Headset.

I have to admit it; I am really fond of Soundpeat headphones. They really haven’t disappointed us in the past. I was so happy to receive their Q11 headphones to test. I love, love, love this over ear design. If you are bouncy, have a lot of hair, and are active, these babies will not fall out of your ear, and they are sweat proof! The design is perfecto! I wouldn’t change one thing! I really can’t express that enough. The design is perfect. Now, down to the music, lol. I wouldn’t be happy if they stayed on, but sounded horrible. That would be extra horrible, lol. These sound wonderful. The music and phone calls are nice, and crisp and clear. They chalk that up to their Bluetooth 4.1 technology and their apt X technology. It’s working for them. The bass and instrumental are clear. No edginess, or interference. There is no jumping or static at different levels. These headphones do have a bar off of the right ear. The controls are on the bar, and the micro USB port to charge them is on the right ear. The bar has a multipurpose button in the center, and a plus and minus buttons on either side of the multipurpose button. Press and hold the multipurpose button to turn them on and to pair. They come up as QY11 to pair, and no code is needed. They paired immediately with My Galaxy Note 5 phone. They do speak to you a little. For example: Power on, Power off, Phone 1 connected. They do not state the incoming call phone number though. One press of the multipurpose button is all it’s needed to both answer a phone call and to hang up a phone call. It will go back to playing your music when your call is over. Now, for the + and – buttons. Short press the minus button to lower the volume, long press to restart your song. Short press the + button to increase the volume, and long press to move to the next song. It’s very responsive, no lag. The calls are clear, and I had no trouble answering or hanging up. My husband used them out and about on the road for work without a hitch. You really can’t take calls without Bluetooth when you are in a car. Hands free is really the only way to go. He is on the road a lot, but has to take calls for work. These allow him to be safe and efficient. He also likes to run, and these are there for him yet again. Family fun. – iRush’s 3D Virtual Reality Video Glasses.

We are not new to VR glasses in my home. They are fun to use. We did discover though, that not everyone can use them. I have one son who injured himself when he was little. He can’t see the full view using the glasses. So, if you have some trouble, you are not alone. The rest of us can enjoy them though. This particular VR headset from iRush are very comfortable to use. They fit larger phones as well. This particular set is stated to fit phones from 4 – 6” in length. I have a Galaxy Note 5, and I can use these with my phone perfectly. I do have to remove it from my Otterbox case though. I have to with every pair of VR glasses we have. These are so easy to use. The front of the glasses has a magnetic closure, so just pull from the top to open. It opens easily for you. You will see the large clip that opens to hold your phone in place. There is a nice foam insert that protects your phone screen when inserted, and it holds your phone very securely as well. The front cover clips on, and can be removed completely. You can turn your camera mode on, and look through the lenses. It’s pretty wild. You can watch 3D movies on here as well as VR games and apps. Your phone does all the work. So, this will only be as good as your phone, really. I downloaded the VaR’s app from the Google Playstore. It is free, and has been working perfectly for me. Once you download the app, just do a search for VR games, and apps. Then download them to your phone. We like the dinosaur and aquarium apps. My son also like the rollercoaster one as well. When you have the goggles on, you really need to be able to stand up, and be able to turn in a full circle to get the full effect. On top of the goggles is a turn wheel. Just move this to adjust the pupil and focal distance as needed. It is adjustable from 55-75mm. I didn’t have to adjust it for myself. The headband is a wide and comfortable, Nylon webbing. It is adjustable on both the sides, and over the head. There is a plastic plate on the back of it to help keep it stabilized. It’s pretty comfortable on. Around the eyes, there is a deep padding done in a pleather like covering. It is very soft, and really makes the comfort of these glasses. It’s a fun experience that both the spectators, and the actual participate in. It’s fun to watch people react to what they are seeing. These can be used by virtually all ages as well. You can have fun with this from Grandma to grandson, at one gathering. We have, and it’s fun to watch Grandma use it, lol.

A great way to detect moisture lurking in your home. – Sgot’s Obecome LCD Display Digital Wood Moisture Meter.

Years ago I was a Real Estate agent for a while. It was important to make sure the inspector tested areas for moisture during a home inspection. Every since then I have realized about the importance of knowing these things. I think it should be part of your household tools. Water is so damaging to your home and health, if mold starts to grow because of it. This particular unit from Sgot comes with the 9V battery, and a great zippered storage case to keep it in. The instructions are written in broken English, lol, but are still easy to follow. This unit will give you a lower power indicator. If you are using this for your job, I suggest carrying an extra battery with you. It is simple to operate. The top of the unit comes off with a push of the button, and pull of the top, at the same time. The battery compartment can be accessed without a tool, so it’s quick and simple to place the battery in it. The power button is clearly marked on it as well. After you take the top off, turn it on, and place the spikes into what you are testing. They recommend about 5mm. Instead of questioning if you have a slow leak in your shower, test it. If you think the water is flowing to far toward your home, check your exterior walls, and see if they are holding moisture. And so on, and so on. The LCD screen on this unit is large and clear. It will work in temperatures ranging from 32 degrees Fahrenheit to 104degrees Fahrenheit. It is small, lightweight, and high portable. The measuring range is 5 – 40% with a +/-1% accuracy. When you are doing a wall check, let’s say, you want to work your way up from the base to see how far the water issue is running. This unit even has the ability to store some of your recent measurements. That is pretty handy if you are checking multiple areas. Overall, I am pretty happy with this unit. It’s easy to use and read. What else can you ask for.
