Let there be Light – iTLTL’s Creative LED Desk Lamp & Night Light

Lighting is an important feature for any home. I’m not talking about just regular overhead lighting, or even regular table lamps. One should always be prepared for emergencies, or just plain unplugged, fun. This Creative LED Desk Lamp & Night Light from iTLTL, fits into that category. This portable light can be used both plugged in, or plug free. It arrives with a USB power cord. So, first thing, charge it up. You will have to provide your own adapter.

You can use it plugged in, or without, once it’s charged up. It doesn’t take long to charge enough to use it without the USB cord. I received the pale yellow lamp, but they have it in all white, too. It is such a simple light to operate, but it is very useful. I was a tad skeptical when I first pulled it out of the box. It seemed too lightweight, which was equivalent to being cheap, in my mind. I was quite wrong, and I am happy I was. With this light being so lightweight, it can easily be used for camping. If you used your own clip or cord, you could easily hang this from a tree, or from your tent. I weighed the lamp, and it only weighs 0.4lbs. One pound equals 16 ounces, so this light only weighs 6.4 ounces. Definitely light enough to pack out with. Another lightweight aspect of this light, is the power it uses. It only uses 2W of power. You really can’t go wrong with LEDs nowadays.

This light does not get hot to the touch when in use, at all. So, it is safe to have around your children and pets. This is a 3-function light. You can have the base illuminate like a lantern. You can use it as a desk type lamp, and you can dim the light to your desired brightness, in both settings. On the top of the light, there is a turn nob. You just turn it to your desired brightness, that’s it. When used as a lamp, just unhook, and pull up the arm. There is a diffuser on the LEDs, so it is eye friendly. This part gets only slightly warm to the touch. The head of the lamp is actually the light source for the entire light. When the arm is in the down position, the LED side rests flat against the body, which is the lantern portion. It illuminates the entire base as the lantern, when turned on. This design is what keeps it so lightweight, and portable. On the lowest setting the light can last around 40 hours on one charge.

My youngest has a real fear when it comes to the dark. So, we like to be prepared in our home for any power outages. We also, always, travel with a backup light source. We have been in a hotel before, where the power went out for a bit. Boy, did those backup light sources come in handy for us. This one will definitely be one we take on vacation this year. I love that it can stand on its’ own as both a lantern, and a desk lamp. It really makes it so much more useable than a regular flashlight. The neck of the lamp is very bendable, so you can really position task oriented light, really well. But, since it clips into the base firmly, it then becomes a great handle to both hang it, and carry it from. We are overall, realy pleased with this product.

Cutlery on the go. – Hale Baby’s Kakalu 3 Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Set.

Working on the road can be tough. Fast food ends up being your daily food intake, for the most part. Even if you prefer fast food, if you order something through the drive thru, half the time they forget your cutlery you need to it. But not only that, even if you take food with you on the road, you will still need cutlery. I, in the past, have lost many a utensil to on the road, food needs. It got to the point, where I said, no more, buy disposable utensils. Disposable utensils are convenient, only if you remember to buy them, lol. They, however, are not eco-friendly, or durable.

A set like this, from Hale Baby is very convenient. But not just for you on the road eaters, but for prepping, camping, road trips, and picnicking, to mention a few. I love how this set includes its’ own zippered storage case. The case is simple, and works perfectly. It is made out of backpack material, and has a zippered closure, which works very well. Also included in the set, which is just a perk, is a nice measuring tape, which is very convenient to own and have. It’s good to keep one in your car. I can’t tell you how many times we have been in a home improvement store, and needed to measure s piece to see if it would work. That, and with the ever changing clothing sizes, it’s good to know a measurement. My mom, last year, went clothes shopping for my bday. She bought me 4 pairs of shorts, and they were all different sizes. Same brand and model too, lol. She took a tape measure, and measured across the waist line. So, it’s very convenient to keep one in your glove compartment.

In this set you get 1 zippered case, 1 tape measure tape, 1 teaspoon, 1 fork, and 1 demitasse spoon. They are labeled and made out of stainless steel. And, they are not bendy either. I always do the bendy test. If I can bend it in my hands, then it wouldn’t last at all with my strong guys! So, they would be worthless, then. The teaspoon measures 6.69″ in length, dinner fork size is 6.77″ in length, and the demitasse spoon size is 4.8″ in length. The small spoon is great for little kids, your coffee, or as a backup spoon if you haven’t washed your regular spoon. The utensils themselves are comfortable to hold and use. It’s a great basic set, and really comes in handy. When you have a safe room for Tornados, etc., with food in it, don’t forget your utensils. A set per person, of these would be great to store. Overall, this is a well-made set. Mine arrived with no imperfections, and I think it s a very handy set to own.

A great self defense tool. – Smart Security’s Brand New Survival Tactical Pen.

Tactical pens are a great tool to have on you. You can pretty much always have one on you too, be it in your purse, brief case, or on your person. It spans almost all jobs, including being a student. After all, it is a pen. My guys have used a tactical pen for a few years now, so I have claimed this one for myself. A tactical pen is much more than a pen. It is also a means to defend yourself, if in need to do so. The end of the pen has a Tungsten steel tip. You can use this to defend yourself easily, as well as, use it to free yourself from your car in an accident. This will act just like a glass breaker since it can be used to slam an attackers’ head very well. I slammed it into a piece of plywood several times without issue, to test it out. You can’t even tell I tried to rough it up. The actual pen itself is made out of aircraft aluminum alloy. That is what a lot of flashlights are made out of too, for comparison. It is very durable pen! It arrives in a plastic container, that is foam lined and reusable. It was recycled from past flashlights they used to sell. I like seeing things being recycled. The pen actually comes with a refill, which is not usual from the tactical pens we have purchased in the past. The pen writes very smoothly out of the box. The cap is a screw on cap, and there is also a pocket clip. The pocket clip holds pretty well. It is silver in color, and can be removed if you choose to. The top unscrews off, and then you can take the pocket clip off, and then screw the top cap back on. This is not as heavy as some tactical pens, but not as light as a regular pen either. You can take this pen on an airplane, which is good to know. that even there, it will be there for you. Overall, this is a well-made pen. It writes smoothly, and is pretty durable. The pocket clip is not the strongest of pocket clips, but if you are not rough on pens, like my guys can be, it works just fine. With the Tungsten tip, and the strong body, this pen can be trusted to be able to defend yourself with it.

A great way to be prepared. – BHBody’s Keychain USB Rechargeable Mini Necklace LED Flashlight.

My family is big into being prepared. It amazes me how many people do not have the basic items in their home, that can help them and their families in an emergency. From my past experience as a nurse, and in life in general, I can say that a lot of emergencies involve the lights going out, or occurring at night. I believe that you should have at least one flashlight per person, in your home, and extras for company, or flashlight failure. We have several different types per person, in our home. This particular flashlight necklace from BHBody is so unique. I love how it has entered the preparedness arena. People wear neck knives, and tools, and now we can add a stunning looking necklace flashlight. My guys love the look. I, as a female, absolutely love the look. It is a great size at 1 ¾”, it’s an easy size to wear. The chain and flashlight are made out of titanium alloy materials. I think the chain is stainless, but I’m not positive. The chain is a 26” chain, and slips right over my head. That is my personal measurement. So, there’s a great chance you won’t have to undo it to put it on and off. That is highly convenient. The length of the chain, also allows you to use the light, without removing it from your neck. Obviously, that won’t be convenient for everything, but it’s a great option. This is a twist on light to, which is quick and silent, in case you need to be silent. Just twist it clockwise to turn it on, and counter clockwise to turn it off. When the light starts to get weak, just plug it into your micro USB, and let it be. It will not overcharge, and there is an LED light that goes from red to green, once it’s fully charged. It took about 30 minutes for my light to charge. You need to supply your own micro USB. Now, the charging port is located under the top of the flashlight. Unscrew it like you are turning it off, but keep on turning until it comes off completely. You will see the micro USB port on the side of the light. This is pretty bright for a tiny light. It puts off 130 lumens of a bright, white light. I love LEDs. They are so much more user friendly. No poisonous chemicals to deal with. They do not break easily when you drop the light, and they last soooo much longer than regular bulbs as well. This LED is a CREE-XP-G2 LED, and is rated for up to 50,000 hours. No matter how many times I see a lifespan of a LED, it always impresses me. I am a bit of a LED nut, lol. What I also find impressive, is that this tiny light is also a dual mode light. It actually has low and high. High is the 130 lumens. When you start to turn the cap to turn it on, it will first reach low mode, and when you keep turning, you will reach the high mode. You can’t miss it. It has an IPX8 waterproof rating, which means that it is water resistant up to 2M, and has an impact resistance rating of 1.5m. So, this means you can use this light in the rain, and if you drop it from standing, it will be fine and dandy. The internal rechargeable battery is an 10180 Li battery. They state that you can change out the battery when it finally goes. The LED will last longer than the battery. I have dropped the light and ran the light under the faucet. I have had no issues with it. I absolutely love it. It would make a great gift, as it even comes in a fancy gift box, that looks just like a jewelry gift box. You do have the option of putting it on your key ring as well, so it’s not stuck as a necklace only. It’s quite the handy and usable flashlight. I really love it.

Just hanging around with Bomber and Company’s Tree Swing Hanging Kit Set.

We own a parachute hammock, and hammock swings. I love them, but they are not always the most convenient things to hang. Having straps like this, really is convenient. This product is military grade, and they stat that each strap can hold up to 500lbs. The included carabineer clip is a real carabineer clip. It is climb worthy, and made out of industrial strength stainless steel. It has a 5500lb test strength to it. It is a locking carabineer as well. Only one strap comes in a package. Remember that when you order, in case you need two. The strap is 2” wide and 5” 8½” long. The carabineer clip adds another 4 ¼” in length. This is one thick and durable strap. The stitching that was done on it is heavy duty and not going anywhere any time soon. You can use this to tie up goods when camping. You can hang a hammock swing with this, and not have to worry about it not being well supported. If you are going to use this strap for a hammock, you will need to order two. The carabineer is really thick, and heavy duty. It’s easy to open and close. It really hurts when it hits your ankle, so don’t swing it around while holding it, lol. Yes, I did that. Some of the suggestions this company gives for this strap are: “Tree Swing, Hammock Strap, Boxing Bag Hanger, Camping/Boating, and Slackline Brace.” They actually have these suggestions printed right on the packaging. All very good ideas, too. Since this strap comes with a climbing rated carabineer, the price is actually very, very good. I’ve priced real carabineer clips and they can cost more than this setup. You can get creative with it, and even just use it to help you lift things, up and over railings, or into the rafters or ceiling, if you are a working man/woman. For those of you who like to hike and camp, and try to limit your footprint, these straps are supposed to be tree friendly. They are wide, which limits the stress put on the tree branch. This will lessen the chance of damaging the tree. Some straps are real narrow, and when you apply weight to the strap, it actually digs into the branch, sometimes causing it to die. So, that is another benefit to this company’s strap setup. I am really happy with this set up overall. My husband still can’t believe the price.

Time to play Superspy! – Teton Webstores’ RecorderGear PC550 1080P Wide Angle Portable WiFi Body Worn Camera.

(The video was taken on our trip to McDonalds. No one noticed that I was wearing it either.)

It’s fun to play super spy when you have reliable equipment. I have reviewed other wearable spy gadgets, and a lot of them fall flat with ease of use, and quality of recording. This particular camera from Recordergear is holding up pretty well. It comes with a free app to download, so it can be used in multiple ways. I have only tested the app out of Android devices. It is available for IOS too, though. The app is called FinalCam, and it’s free to install. C11 is the camera name, and the default password is 12345678. It linked up with our cameras right away. Only one person can be connected at a time to the camera using the app. My husband and I both tried being logged into it, and it said NO, lol. The camera has its own Wi-Fi. So, when you want to link up to it, turn the camera on first, and then hit the Wi-Fi button and make sure you opened your app on your phone or tablet. Your phone will then connect with the camera, and you will be able to view what your camera is viewing. You will need to press the arrow button when you open the app, to activate the connection process. The picture is pretty clear. This will also depend on the quality of your camera or tablet too. From the app you can record, take pictures, adjust the volume, or turn it off. You can adjust the light as well. There are 4 buttons on the camera itself. One side there is a power button and the light button, for nighttime, or dark room, filming. On the other side is the Wi-Fi button and the mode button. This camera can be fully operated without the app. That’s definitely better for wearing it as a body cam, and being more super spy like, lol. Here is a quick break down how to operate it from the buttons:

-Press and hold to turn it on and off. It comes on with the Blue light. You can cycle through the modes with the mode button.

Blue means record

Red means photo mode

Green means only Audio record mode

Red/Blue Combo means Motion activated video mode

Pick the color you want, and then short press the power button to activate the mode. The light will flash about 5 times, and then go into your chosen mode. It’s pretty simple, and can be done on the sly, once you get familiar with the camera button locations. You need to press the light button to activate the nighttime viewing mode. You need to supply your own micro SD card for this camera. When you buy one, make sure it is at least a class 10, or the video will not be worth our while. Now, if you have Windows 8, you will need to download the VLC video player program. It’s free, or it was when I downloaded it onto my old laptop, which is now my husband’s laptop. Otherwise you can only see the video and not hear any audio. With playing the video through VLC, you are good to go. I have Windows 10, and it plays the video and audio perfectly. I normally don’t wear shirts with chest pockets. That would be the perfect place to wear a bodycam. I place it on my belt, and filmed from the hip when I used it. I notice in the video, with many lighting variations, it will darken a little. But, my expensive camera, does that too, so, not a surprise. I swear, cameras do not know what to do with sunlight and LED lighting. It makes the lens darken somewhat, for some reason. It films for approx.. 10 minutes, and then restarts another video on its own. There seems to be an unnoticeable gap really between threads. With this camera you will get 1 charging cable, 1 hdmi cable, 1 microfiber cleaning cloth, 1 camera and instruction pamphlet. When you plug the camera into your computer, it will automatically download the drivers for it. Overall, it’s a very easy camera to operate. I think it’s fun, and user friendly. I like the sound and picture quality for a body cam. It really is the best I have personally used to date.

This makes it easy to be prepared. – Western Frontiers’ Ultimate MRE, Case of 12.

I cannot count how many MREs that have come through my home, lol. Between having Military and outdoor enthusiasts in the home, we have had our share. I personally think every home should have some in case of emergency. Ignore the sign of not for resale. That is because the military cannot resale them. MREs are released after a year in surplus, and then companies are allowed to sell them. These have a varied life span from 2017 and up to 4 years. They are clearly labeled with an expiration date. The expiration dates will vary. You receive 12 MRE’s in this case. There is a mixed variety of meals as well. Each package is clearly labeled and tightly sealed. It’s really easy to pack out with these, and very easy to store for preparedness too. You want to store them in a clean, cool, dry place. Each meal contains a water activated flameless ration heater in it. This way you can eat in the field if you need to. It’s also a great way to get hot food when there is no power or readily available fire. The meals received in my box are as follows:

2. Chicken Breast Fillet, Seasoned Garlic and Herb

3. Beef Ravioli in Meat Sauce

Now, do not expect gourmet taste in an MRE, lol. That’s never going to happen. This is food that can keep you alive in dire situations. Some of them can be tasty. My son and husband really like some, and hate others. That really is a personal decision. These are easy to store, and take along with you. They are great to take with you on a trip in case your car breaks down, and you’re stranded. These are definitely the choice to make for a camping trip, especially when you pack out. Every home should be stocked with meals like this in case of an emergency, so your family can still eat. I love that MREs are available to the public. It’s definitely something every home should take advantage of. You need to still provide your own fluids, and water to activate the heater bags. My husband states that some MRE’s will include the water. He says it’s always hit or miss in this department. I love how you get such a mixture of foods in an MRE, including chicklets. I think that is hilarious for some reason. These really make being prepared easy.

A great knife for your car. – Outdoor Games’ WHX Outdoor Camping Survival Folding Knife.

I live in a house with a lot of guys, and guys like knives. Well, mine do anyhow. I have been converted, and get just as excited about them. Not only are they great tools to have, but the can help you save your life in an emergency. This knife from Outdoor Games can do just that too. It is a great tool to keep in your vehicle. This folding knife has a built in seatbelt cutter as well as a glass breaker on it. It does not come with a sheath, but it does have a metal pocket clip on it. It’s a long metal pocket clip, and sturdy. The blade is a Tanto blade and was made out of 440C Stainless Steel. Overall this knife measures out at 8 ¼” long when opened. The blade measures out at 3.5” to the tip. They state 2.9”, so I would check my state laws before ordering it. We can have up to a 4” blade on us, here in NC. This is a heaver blade with the built in car safety features. It weighs out at 7.3oz with my scale. My knife arrived in perfect condition. It arrived with the usual factory edge, and in my opinion needs to be sharpened. If I want my knife to be able to be fully utilized, it needs to have a sharp edge on it, capable of shaving those hairs, lol. The blade test we always do. Even though it’s a larger knife for me, I can still do the one handed open and close. I’m not great at flicking it open yet, since it’s larger. It is also a little tight when it first arrives, which is normal. There is no play in the blade. When it is opened, it is well locked in. To close it, you just need to press your thumb against the liner lock and push the blade shut with your other fingers. The blade has a camo like finish done on it. It’s pretty sharp looking. The handle is metal with a black, plastic insert which has ridges on it. It helps with the grip, and the aesthetics. There is a lanyard whole already there for you as well. This is a great tool to keep in a vehicle. It would be great camping or hiking as well. In a pinch you can cut your Paracord, or anything else you need. It’s thick and solid, and a great price for such a useful tool.

The stand is interesting. It is metal and lightweight. You really need to hold it when in use. I will probably have my husband make a wood base for it. It is not necessary at all. It’s just for comfort, lol. On the handles, are 4 holes. You choose your angle by inserting your chosen stone into one of them. Your blade gets clamped into this handle, so it doesn’t move on you at all while being sharpened. Both of these tasks are accomplished by screwing the knobs attached to both pieces. It is a no brainer to do. The four holes are on each side, so it doesn’t matter if you are right handed or left handed. You just flip it over to sharpen the other side as well. This method really does create a great edge on your blade. The stone literally follows the edge of your blade. I am really happy with it, as well as my husband. He has a knife that he has been using and abusing. His first time out with this sharpener, and he brought the life back into his blade with just using the extra course stone. My husband was quite happy indeed.

Power on the go.-Wotech’s 10000mAh Two-Output Fast Charging Power Bank.

We are big power bank users in our home. My husband especially uses them all of the time. Even when he goes to bed, and uses his phone as his alarm clock. He doesn’t have an open outlet by his side of the bed, so a power bank is his only option. We have our cable phone and router system tied into that outlet. This power bank by Wotech is a fantastic size at 10,000mAh. That is a great and very convenient size battery. This power bank is white in color. It is lightweight, and a great size at 5 ½” long by 2 ¾” wide and approx. ½” thick. It charges via the included micro USB cord. There are 2 USB out ports on it, so you can charge two items at the same time. It even has auto shut off. So, if you accidently press the power button, and turn it on, it will shut off after about a minute without anything plugged into it. This power bank also has over charge protection, over current and short circuit protection, over voltage protection, over discharged protection. In other words, you can feel good about using this power bank with your expensive tablets, phones, and more. You can charge anything that charges via a USB cord. There are dedicated USB ports on this unit. They are only labeled out though. The one closest to the power button is the 2A out port, and the one furthest from the power button is the 1A out port. IPhones charge well on the 1A. My larger Note 5 Android phone, needs the 2A port to charge. It does charge well on this unit. I topped off the charge on my phone, and this power bank still had 4 blue LEDs lit up on it. I like power banks with these lights. It’s easier to see when your power bank needs to be recharged. Each bar represents 25% of its power level. I can charge my phone twice and my tablet once on this power bank, easily. It has not become hot to the touch while charging either.
