I do most of the cooking in our home, and from scratch as well. Salt and pepper are spices that cooks at all levels depend on. They are a kitchen essential, for sure. There are so many varieties of both, and they truly do taste fresher when ground at the time of use. In this set you will get two grinders. They are identical, and each one has a stainless steel cap on it, for when they are not in use. These grinders have brushed stainless steel tops, clear glass bodies, and non-corrosive ceramic blades. The ceramic blades are a hit on the market for grinders, including spice and coffee grinders, as well. The blades stay sharper for a longer period than the traditional stainless blades.

I love the tops on these units. They snap on very firmly, so if they are tipped over, you won’t have any salt or pepper residue all over you table. That really annoys me with traditional grinders. But, one great thing about these caps, that probably hasn’t occurred to you, is that they serve as a tiny spice bowl, for you cooks. I honestly would not have thought of that on my own, lol. I really like this feature. Leave the cap on when you grind, and then carefully pop the top off of the grinder. The top is about ½” deep on the inside. So for those of you that like to add a pinch of this, at a time, you can do that with these grinders, without having to get a separate bowl; highly convenient. I love the size of these containers. They are not tall and thin, which is not my favorite at all. They tip over way too often. These grinders are 2 5/8th” wide at the bottom, which is very stable, especially since the grinders are only 5 ¼” tall. Since the actually spice container is pretty large, you can fit a lot in there; about 2/3rds of a cup. So, you will not always be refilling these. I also love that they are made out of a thick glass, which is a healthier way to store food, and that they are clear, so you can see the condition, and the available quantity, at a glance. Overall these are smooth working grinders. They are well built, and pretty to look at as well.

Slice and dice with Moderna Housewares’ Ozeri OZK1 Elite Chef Ceramic 3-Piece Knife Set, Black.

I remember when my husband bought me my first ceramic knife. It had that white blade that they all came out with. I wasn’t sure what to expect by a ceramic blade, and was quickly awed by how sharp they were. I am still in awe. They really are sharp, and they really do maintain their sharp edge for a long, long time. I absolutely love this set from Ozeri. It is not only gorgeous, but it functions just as great as it looks. The three knives are done with gorgeous black ceramic blades. They look like regular knives. They are really eye catching! In this set you will get one 3” Paring Knife, one 5” Slicing knife, and one 6” Chef’s Knife. Basically a knife to meet all your cooking needs. One thing that I cannot reiterate enough, is that these knives are beyond sharp. Be careful using them. I have sliced myself so many times with ceramic knives. Much, much more so than regular knives. The handles on these knives are great to hold onto. They have what I call, a finger guard on them. This keeps your hand from sliding down the handle on to the blade, if the blade slips. The handles are firm, but coated, so they feel soft and comfortable in hand. I’m actually very happy with the handles. They title these handles, Ergonomic Handles. I would have to agree with that. The ceramic blades are thick. They do not bend side to side from the handle, even if you push on them, to test them. These are not metal, and will not rust, or break down any metal into your food. Ceramic blades are stated to keep their edge about 10 times longer than regular metal blades. The finish on these blades look like metal. It’s pretty amazing. My older son, who loves knives, still looks at these in awe, since the blades are sleek and shiny like metal blades. He always says they are lying about them not being metal, lol. These really are great for slicing, chopping, mincing, and cutting. I can’t say enough positive, and I really have no cons about them. The only con I have is that these highly sharp knives should come with plastic sheaths, or blade guards, as some people call them. Be very careful if you just throw them into your utensil drawer. Also, if you chip these blades, they are not easy to sharpen like regular knife blades. You could use a knife block, or the storage box they come in to store them. The foam they arrive in is really, really thick, and reusable for storage purposes. They also recommend only hand washing these knives, to ensure the blades fine edge. Since I hand wash everything, that is not an issue for me. This set of Ozeri ceramic knives are a great addition to my kitchen.

Solid kitchen tools. – Secutta Direct’s Cooking Utensils Set-Stainless Steel Kitchen Tools.

I do a lot of cooking. Most everything from scratch due to severe food allergies, too. I am very picky about my cooking utensils because of this. I really can’t tolerate inferior utensils, and either donate them or throw them away. This set from Secutta Direct is absolutely fantastic. It is a heavy duty set, and I love them. You get 6 utensils in this set and they are: one spatula, one soup ladle, one skimmer, one meat fork, one slotted turner, and one egg beater/whisk. These are made out of a thick stainless steel and have hard wooden handles on them. The stainless goes into the handle, and the wood is riveted to it. Then, each handle has a stainless steel piece riveted into the top of the handles, with a whole, so they can be hung up. They are all also far from small in stature. For example, the soup ladle is 13 ½” long, and it is one of the shorter ones. Men will not feel like they are holding tiny utensils when cooking with these. My husband loves them, especially the whisk. He has been wanting a more durable whisk, and that is what he has with this one. The slotted spatula has a serrated side to it. It is a smooth serration though, but you can cut into a sausage, or the like with it, while cooking. I love the solid spatula. It is large and in charge. The sides are raised a little, so if you are trying to reach into the oven to turn something over, your item won’t just slide off. I hate when that happens. I also really love the very large skimmer, which I call the slotted spoon, lol. It’s great for veggies, potatoes, frying food. It’s the best utensil for all of these. I have never had one this size or shape, and it’s perfect. Stainless is such a perfect material for the kitchen environment as well. It doesn’t naturally harbor bacteria, mold, or fungus. It’s so, so easy to clean. I hand wash everything, but these can go in the dishwasher. Always make sure the area where the wood and stainless meet, has been cleaned thoroughly, though. All of my rivets were done nice and tight except for my spatula. It has a tiny bit of play in it, and I mean tiny. It does not affect the usage at all, thank goodness. I really like the shape of it. I would have to say, that that is the only negative I could find in my set of utensils. They are definitely a welcomed addition to my family, and will get a lot of use.

Two guys that will actually help you cook! – Fivebop’s Lid Lifter.

OMG! These little guys are too cute. The icing on the cake is: They actually work!!!!!! I make my own sauce a lot, and it always splatters everywhere. Even when I have the heat setting on 2. I have a very large and heavy, cast iron pot, that I mainly use. These guys held up the heavy lid like it was nothing, and kept my sauce from splattering everywhere. They let the air circulate, while still letting the ingredients you are cooking, to continue cooking, without lowering the temp. It’s more efficient this way, and I do not have to babysit the pot, and constantly stir it. It frees me up to be able to do the other cooking I need to do. These two pot lid holders look like two little guys. Honestly, I really can’t get over how cute they are, lol. You place them on each side of your pot, and then place your lid down on them. If you have a small lid, you can just use one. They are made out of thick and sturdy silicone. They are so durable. It doesn’t matter if you drop them, throw them, step on them, and let your kid play with them. They will remain in the same condition. All you’ll need to do is wash them. They are even dishwasher safe. These two pot lid holders are made out of non-toxic silicone. Silicone has great heat tolerance. Just don’t let them get close to open flames. I use a lot of silicone in the kitchen in regards to utensils and cookware. It cleans so easily, as food really doesn’t stick to it, and the durability is awesome. You can even use one of these as an impromptu cell phone holder. My phone case isn’t slippery itself, so I can lean my huge Note 5 in an Otterbox case, against the little man, and it holds it up for me, horizontally. It’s just another great use for these. I do not have any chopsticks, but they mention in their ad, that these can be used tableside to hold your chopsticks. That would be really fun to do. I might have to break down and order my husband the light saber chopsticks now, lol. It doesn’t hurt to want whimsical items in the kitchen, when they actually help and make your job easier. It makes a chore not feel like a chore. These are a great quality and highly useful item. My mom has already told me she wants a pair as a gift, and I can’t blame her for that. I think every kitchen needs a set.

Full tang Carving knife on a budget. – Brandobay’s Professional 12-Inch Carving Knife.

cheap carving knife 1If you like to make roasts, or serve large cuts of meat, it’s necessary to have a carving knife. I prefer full tang knives. They tend to last longer, and are more durable. This in turn, makes the carving job easier. Rarely do I find a factory edge sharp enough to thinly slice meat. So being able to easily sharpen your blade is also a consideration in purchasing a knife. Now, if budget was of no concern, then you really wouldn’t have to think about this. Well, for most of us, budget is a concern. Currently this knife is priced only at $11.87. It is a 12 inch carving knife, and it is also a full tang knife as well. The knife is made out of Stainless Steel, and the handles is attached to it very tightly. The handle is black, and made out of plastic. It is lightweight to hold and use. The knife measures out at 12 ¼” overall. The grip is solid, and the knife is easy to use. It has a sharp enough blade on it, but I think extra sharpening would really make it shine as a carving knife. Haha, it didn’t pass the shaving the hair on your arm test, out of the package. For the price, it’s not a bad carving knife. I do really like that it’s a full tang knife at this price point.
