Slice and dice with Moderna Housewares’ Ozeri OZK1 Elite Chef Ceramic 3-Piece Knife Set, Black.

Standard

I remember when my husband bought me my first ceramic knife. It had that white blade that they all came out with. I wasn’t sure what to expect by a ceramic blade, and was quickly awed by how sharp they were. I am still in awe. They really are sharp, and they really do maintain their sharp edge for a long, long time. I absolutely love this set from Ozeri. It is not only gorgeous, but it functions just as great as it looks. The three knives are done with gorgeous black ceramic blades. They look like regular knives. They are really eye catching! In this set you will get one 3” Paring Knife, one 5” Slicing knife, and one 6” Chef’s Knife. Basically a knife to meet all your cooking needs. One thing that I cannot reiterate enough, is that these knives are beyond sharp. Be careful using them. I have sliced myself so many times with ceramic knives. Much, much more so than regular knives. The handles on these knives are great to hold onto. They have what I call, a finger guard on them. This keeps your hand from sliding down the handle on to the blade, if the blade slips. The handles are firm, but coated, so they feel soft and comfortable in hand. I’m actually very happy with the handles. They title these handles, Ergonomic Handles. I would have to agree with that. The ceramic blades are thick. They do not bend side to side from the handle, even if you push on them, to test them. These are not metal, and will not rust, or break down any metal into your food. Ceramic blades are stated to keep their edge about 10 times longer than regular metal blades. The finish on these blades look like metal. It’s pretty amazing. My older son, who loves knives, still looks at these in awe, since the blades are sleek and shiny like metal blades. He always says they are lying about them not being metal, lol. These really are great for slicing, chopping, mincing, and cutting. I can’t say enough positive, and I really have no cons about them. The only con I have is that these highly sharp knives should come with plastic sheaths, or blade guards, as some people call them. Be very careful if you just throw them into your utensil drawer. Also, if you chip these blades, they are not easy to sharpen like regular knife blades. You could use a knife block, or the storage box they come in to store them. The foam they arrive in is really, really thick, and reusable for storage purposes. They also recommend only hand washing these knives, to ensure the blades fine edge. Since I hand wash everything, that is not an issue for me. This set of Ozeri ceramic knives are a great addition to my kitchen.

Double sided, and perfect. – The Checkered Chef’s Cutting Board.

Standard

We do a lot of cooking, and mostly from scratch, in our home. With cooking comes a lot of chopping, and cutting. We have several cutting boards in our home. They really are an indispensable product to have. In my home we use them to serve with, do crafts on, cut and chop food on, and more, lol. It is a great multi-use product to have, and that is why we have multiple. This particular from The Checkered Chef on Amazon, is really nice. It has moved up on my go to list for sure. I love the dual sides, and the non-slip edges, a lot! You know you are way too much of an adult, when you get excited about a cutting board, lol. The size is also great. It measures out at 14” long and 10” wide. You can actually prepare food for a family on here. You can cut your roast, chop a ton of veggies or fruit, and serve up a lot of cheese as well. If you are klutzy like me, you will also appreciate its durability. This cutting board is made out of polypropylene. It is thick enough so you won’t have to worry about warping. It does not leave gouges easily with regular chopping and cutting. I love how it’s double sided. One side is smooth and flat, while the other side has a trough around the perimeter, to catch the juices from you produce and meats. That really makes a difference, and so much less mess. My favorite part of this cutting board is the non-slip feet on it. It really does stay put. That really falls into the klutzy category, lol. If there’s a way to send something flying, I can do it. Fortunately, the corners are wrapped in the non-slip material, so it stays put on either side. I hand wash everything, but this baby is dishwasher safe. It’s a rugged, great all around cutting board. I couldn’t find anything negative about it.

A nifty colander set. – Culina’s Handheld Collapsible Colanders Set of 2.

Standard

I do almost all of the family cooking in our home. Since I have numerous insane food allergies, I do everything from scratch. I can only tolerate quality cooking utensils, and these colanders, I like. They are compact, and made well. I love, love, love, the fun, vibrant green color. They are really peppy. You get one 12” colander, and one 15” colander in this set. That includes the handle length. The basket collapses, so they are pretty flat and easy to store. This feature is great for small kitchens, which is what I have. They are also great for RV’s because of their space saving feature, and how durable they are. These colanders are made out of food grade thick plastic and thermos rubber. Each handle is about 6” long, and they collapse down to a thickness of approximately 1”. The drainage holes are 1/8th of an inch in size. The smaller basket has an opening of 5 ½” in diameter, and the basket is 2 ½” deep. He larger colanders’ basket has an opening of 7 ½” in diameter, and is 3 ½” deep. They have an edge on the bottom of the basket, which serves as the legs, lol. It’s a neat design, and it works really well. Aesthetically and functionally, these work well. The bottoms of the two baskets is also the hard plastic, so they hold their shape really well, as well. These are great for rinsing your veggies or fruits. You can drain your pastas and potatoes easily as well. If you are a cooking tool hanger, the handles in these are equipped with a hole to do so. To collapse them and to open them, just press or push on the bottom of the colander. They stay in their open and closed positions pretty well. The handles are comfortable to hold. Since they are a good length, you don’t have to worry about the steam burning your skin. I hand wash everything, but these can go in the dishwasher. Overall they are a really handy set. Between the 2 sizes, I can get everything covered. With a heavy load, you will get some bend in the handle, but nothing that has comprised the basketful of food, or the handle. These are both made very well, and are so easy to store.

Yummy. – Bellemain’s Ravioli Maker with Cutting Frame and Mold.

Standard

I do all of my own cooking from scratch. I have no choice really, since I suffer from an immense amount of food allergies. Because of this I haven’t been able to serve my family ravioli in a long, long time, and they love it. I also can’t tolerate cheap, inferior cooking tools. I was really excited to get this ravioli maker the setup is definitely quality made. It should last a long, long time. The base is a thick aluminum metal base. It has the cut outs for 12 large square, ravioli. Each square is framed by a metal ridge. You drape your pasta dough over the metal squares. Then you take the nonstick plastic press, and push it down gently into the pasta, and then remove it. This leaves the cup indents for the ravioli. Then take a spoon, and add a dollop of your chosen ravioli filling. Now, it’s time to place the top layer of pasta dough on. You can use a roller or your hand, and press it down, working out all the air, and pushing the two layers together. Using a long plate or a cutting board, turn the press over to release the ravioli from the press. You can also just use your hand too. Then take a knife, or ravioli wheel to separate the ravioli and excess pasta. I do not own a ravioli wheel. If the pasta sticks to the metal frame, just tap it a few times. I am really happy with this ravioli press. It’s pretty impressive. Now, I really have to create a solid pasta dough, before making an edible meal for my family, lol. You can think both dinner and dessert with these. People make dessert raviolis as well. The finished raviolis are an inch square. This set needs to be washed by hand. The suggested pasta sheet size to be used with this press is: 14 inches long x 6 inches wide, with a thickness of 1/16th of an inch. I could not find anything I didn’t really like about this press.

The Culinary Shops’ PrepStor 3 Compartment Food Containers with Lids.

Standard

I think we all need leftover containers. Even if you do not work out of your home. I love being organized when I can, and these containers really help in regards to food and meals. They are BPA free, as well as microwave, freezer, and dishwasher safe. For thin plastic containers, they can do a lot. They can handle temps up to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. There are 3 divided compartments in each container. With these containers, you get 2 – 8oz compartments, and 1 – 160z compartment. So, if you are on a special diet, you can use these to help you stay on tract. The lid snaps on very securely and keep these leak free. You really need to work your way around the lid, making sure it is fully snapped shut. Otherwise, they will probably leak on you. When you are not using them, they stack into each other so well, and take up minimal space. They are lightweight, and won’t add a lot of weight to your bag when you head out for work or a trip. These feel like throw away containers because they are so lightweight, but they can be used over and over, which I love.
