star wars 2Star Wars! Who doesn’t love Star Wars. I’m wondering how many people are going to dress in costume to bake with these, lol. An intergalactic adventure, culinary style. I was quite thrilled to be afforded the opportunity to review EGN-Corp’s Silicone Star Wars Molds  at a reduced cost in exchange for an unbiased and honest review. These are so fun to look at. Cooking can be a chore for many people, but these should definitely put a smile on your face. There are six molds in the package. The molds include: Darth Vader (red mold), Hans Solo (grey mold), R2-D2 (blue mold), Storm Trooper Helmet (white mold), X-Wing Fighter (yellow mold), and Millennium Falcon (orange mold). These are food grade silicone molds and they are BPA free.
I love silicone in the kitchen. It is so easy to cook with all around. Silicone has a very wide temperature range. You can put it in the freezer and it can be used in the oven up to 450 degrees F. The only thing it can’t handle is open flame cooking. Because of the temperature range, there are many things you can do with these molds. Obviously you can make fun ice cubes. And they don’t have to be regular ice cubes. You can make them out of juice, or coffee or tea. You can add a tiny bit of food coloring and add them to an adult drink. These molds are perfect for candy and chocolate making. I have to make all my foods from scratch, so I will definitely be making chocolate candies with these. But it doesn’t stop there. Brownies, cakes, mini muffins are all possible with these molds. You can even melt cheese and mold your cheese into these star wars shapes for a party or just for fun.
These silicone molds are also great for crafting. I personally would do one or the other per set. If I choose do crafts with mine,  will get a separate pair. I make my own soap due to insane allergies. These would make for fun soap shapes. And since they handle high temps, I can still do my hot process soap making and use these molds. Another thing you can do is crayon making. Just melt your crayons down, fill the molds, wait for them to cool and then pop them out. When popping anything out of these molds, try to stretch the mold from each side, and then turn it upside down and push from the bottom. Try to push evenly, so one side doesn’t break off. There are even recipes for side walk chalk online that you can make with these. Basically, you are limited by your imagination when it comes to these silicone Star Wars molds.
I made mini vanilla cakes. My son hates sweets but loves this cake recipe. He is on the road a lot too. Being able to just grab a bite is his ideal scenario. A few of my cakes broke off on the corners because I didn’t push evenly while popping them out. I didn’t have to grease down the molds I didn’t have to grease the molds first. Cleaning them is easier if you have a brush. That way you can get into the tiny creases to make sure you got them completely clean. We have bottle brushes, and that worked perfectly.
I really like this mold set. They are made from thick, sturdy silicone. With their high quality, they should last a long time. These molds are definitely a welcomed addition to my kitchen and I feel very comfortable in recommending them.
